George Crumb Celebration

This landmark event explores the unique and hauntingly beautiful world of composer George Crumb. Pianist ANDREW RUSSO has brought together an ideal cast of artists, in a program that includes such Crumb masterworks as An Idyll for the Misbegotten, Voice of the Whale, and Ancient Voices of Children. The audience will be treated to a rare musical journey through the cosmic realm of the imagination, complete with the use of special lighting and sound effects inherent in the music.

Violinist Angèle Dubeau and her 12-piece, all-female ensemble La Pietà are joined by an actor as the Devil in a theatrical exploration of music from the underworld, including Danse Macabre (Saint-Saëns), The Devil's Trill (Tartini), Mephisto Waltz (Liszt), and Orpheus in the Underworld (Offenbach).
