WELCOME TO OUR ROSTER!
Melvin Kaplan, Inc. is pleased to announce the addition of two wonderful French groups to our already outstanding roster of chamber music groups.
Les Paladins, under the direction of Jérôme Correas, is an original instrument ensemble that combines voices with instruments to create incredible programs. In November 2008, the group will tour the US for the first time with "The King's Mistress," a program of music as it would have been presented by Madame de Pompadour in her salon at Versailles.
The Ebène Quartet, touring in March of 2009, is noted in Europe not only for their stunning performances of the traditional chamber music repertoire, but also for programs of jazz.
YING QUARTET TO RETURN TO IOWA
In 1992 the Ying Quartet participated in the NEA’s first rural residency program, spending a year in Jesup, Iowa, fully engrossed in the community. By the time they left, they had converted the residents of the small, rural town into enthusiastic chamber music fans.
The Quartet has continued its groundbreaking special projects designed, as in Jesup, to exponentially increase community interest in chamber music and to explore what it can mean to anyone’s life, including:
In March 2008 the Ying Quartet returns to Iowa for a four-day residency at the University of Iowa (March 26-29), where they will be joined by MIT professor and composer Tod Machover for yet another innovative musical collaboration. Having already worked with Tod on the successful Hyperscore project, a revolutionary online compositional program, they will be developing interdisciplinary approaches between multiple departments at the University.
NEW YORK CHAMBER SOLOISTS 50th ANNIVERSARY SEASON CELEBRATION
The 2007-2008 season marks the 50th anniversary of the New York Chamber Soloists, which will be celebrating with a busy season featuring performances of some of its most popular programs of the past half-century, along with premieres of a set of short works based on scenes from Alice in Wonderland.
Among the programs being offered again in this anniversary season is a concert of Bach concerti for one, two, three, and four harpsichords. The concert has always pleased audiences immensely because of the musical value of the performances, the unusual nature of the combination, and the rare chance to see and hear four harpsichords on one stage simultaneously.
Please contact us for more information on any of these opportunities.
